Over the Hills and Far Away

If you set off from Milan and decided to go in a straight line all the way to La Spezia, you could stop off at our house just over half way. Likewise from Turin to Bologna. Except you wouldn’t, because it’s very hilly and the roads don’t go in straight lines. You’d take the motorway, or the train and pass us by completely.

Then again, if you’d been a pilgrim in the Middle Ages, travelling along the via Francigena en route to Rome, you might very well have walked past the end of our road.
